You
may have your local ticketmaster phone number memorized. If you do, you
might as well forget about using it to buy hot event tickets in your area.
The lines will be so tied up, you will be on hold forever, if you can even
get through. When you finally do get an agent, the best tickets will be gone
if there are any left at all.
The
trick is to use an out of state ticketmaster phone number. Select one that
does not have any hot events going on sale at the same time yours. It is
key to select a number which is in a time zone an hour or two ahead of
yours. You cannot buy tickets from them until they go onsale in your
time zone. You can however, get through to the ticketmaster agent in the
other state a minute or two before the outlets open in your area. This is
crucial, in that if you time it right, you can be near the front of the line
when the tickets go onsale in your area.
For
example, if you are in California, use a Colorado number. Start dialing 5
minutes before they go onsale in your area. That way, it will give you time
to get through all the announcements. If the operator answers before they go
onsale, take your time in requesting the event and ask them questions about
it. If you are really lucky, you might even get them to start checking the
system just before tickets go onsale. If you time this one right, and the
payoff is great!
I use
this method while I hammer away at ticketmaster online to increase my
chances.

One tip which is very useful is pressing the
right sequence of numbers to bypass the Ticketmaster automated ticket
system. This will get you to a live ticket agent faster.
1. When the recording comes on
and starts to ask you For directions in English
Press 1′ right away for English.
2. When the recording continues
press * three times consecutively.
This will put you directly into
the loop for a live ticket agent and you will get your tickets faster.
